Cheryl Cole to front a US version of ‘The X Factor’.

Cheryl X Factor

Cheryl Cole celebrated an X-tra special birthday – as it was revealed she is set to front a US version of The X Factor.

The Girls Aloud singer turned 26 with a £60,000 surprise party thrown by Chelsea and England soccer star husband Ashley, 28.

And the icing on the cake came when she learned she had been specially chosen by Simon Cowell to take his top-rated TV show across the Atlantic.

Senior US executives from NBC are due to fly to Manchester this weekend to see her in action at the live auditions.

A source said: “Simon is on the brink of signing a deal to take The X Factor to America and, if he gets his way, Cheryl will be its star.

“He thinks she has amazing presence and her down-to-earth Northern charm will appeal to the American public. She is also an incredibly beautiful girl.

“She won’t get paid anything like the million pound salary she’s on here, because obviously she is not as well known in the States.

“But if it is a success, like most of Simon’s shows are, it could catapult her into the big league.”

It is understood Simon, 49, will not be able to appear on the show as he is tied into a deal with rival network Fox for American Idol.

The music mogul, who has an estimated fortune of £120million, has already announced he plans to quit after the next series of X Factor.

And he has made it clear he wants Cheryl to step into his shoes and become the main face of the show, which regularly pulls in around 15 million viewers.

ITV1 bosses are desperately trying to persuade him to stay, but while  he wants to continue with Britain’s Got Talent, he feels it is time to move on.

Simon was at Cheryl’s bash on Wednesday at London’s Vanilla nightclub. Other guests included Cheryl’s bandmates Kimberley Walsh and Nicola Roberts and X Factor judges Louis Walsh and Dannii Minogue.

Hubby Ashley had secretly invited Cheryl’s showbiz pals, plus friends and family from Newcastle – treating them to flights and putting them up in hotels.

He even arranged for Cheryl – looking stunning in a frilly white mini-dress – to be presented with a giant pink birthday cake in the shape of a star. A friend said: “Cheryl just thought they were going out for a quiet meal.

“But when they pulled up outside the nightclub, she knew he had planned something special and she welled up with emotion.”

Adam Lambert is gay, duh …and cool.

June 9, 2009

Well those of you that may not of heard, Adam Lambert finally mentions his sexuality post-Idol in an interview with the legendary Rolling Stone magazine. This may be a shocker for the those who lived under a rock out in the middle of nowhere, …for a long time, but Adam’s gay. Judging from the released preview it looks to be a great interview which is supposed to hit stands sometime this week. Best bit from the Rolling Stone interview:

“They put me with the cute guy. Distracting! He’s the one guy I found attractive in the whole group on the show: nice, nonchalant, pretty and totally my type — except that he has a wife. I mean he’s open-minded and liberal, but he’s definitely 100% straight.”

Aw he had a crush on Kris Allen at the beginning of the show. Didn’t we all crush on Kris, even a little? Don’t we still? I know I do. My heart’s a flutter thinking about him…

Well I’m really excited to see what these two come out with now post-Idol, esp. Kris! [insert gay loving sigh here]

Two blog posts ask and answer: “What Would Adam Do?”; the post-Idol response.

Kris Allen is the new American Idol and I’m all smiles inside about it.

May 21, 2009

Last night Kris Allen was crowned American Idol (for those of you who may of not heard). It was a surprising victory for the competition’s “dark horse”, but it is one that is well deserved. I’ve been an avid Kris Allen fan since the moment I heard him sing ‘Man In The Mirror’, it was so beautifully sung and just the kind of artist I would of loved to see get a record deal. Week after week Kris blew me away with wonderful artistic renditions of some of the greatest songs. My personal favorites were: ‘Make You Feel My Love’, ‘Falling Slowly’, and ‘She Works Hard For The Money’. During the top 2 performances Kris had sure proved that he deserved the crown right from the moment he began his outstanding performance of ‘Ain’t No Sunshine’. I have to say that I’m really not very fond of the winner’s song written by Kara. It is a bit horrid.

Now I know the omnipresent Adam Lambert fan base is in a great deal of shock and are, for the most part, upset about the outcome. I agree Adam is wildly talented and will surely go far in the music industry, but I feel that it was really the preference for Kris Allen’s musical stylings that won him the vote. I fell in love with his sweet enchanting voice. I’m personally not a fan of Adam genre of music, nor I didn’t feel that it is contemporary enough to beat out Kris. I’m already sick of hearing about how Kris’ win was a huge upset after near 100 million people voted. They both made it all the way to the top 2, that’s something  great right there! People are blaming homophobia and what not, but Adam made it all the way to the top 2 and yeah he was also deserving of the crown, but that’s not how it played out. Let it go and we can go on enjoying both artists because they are only gonna get bigger.

In final words I’m truly happy that Kris Allen won, after making his way all the way to the top despite the Judge’s hardcore beliefs the top would be Adam and Gokey. And I can’t wait to get past that winner’s song and buy Kris Allen’s debut CD.

Kameron’s Choice: Kris Allen on ‘American Idol’ Season 8

February 27, 2009

I’m typically on and off with the episodes and seasons of ‘American Idol’. The only one I’ve ever watched all the way through was season one when the winner was Kelly Clarkson, who is by far the greatest Idol and quite possibly will always be the greatest. But this season I’m going to try to catch as much as I can even though I’d always miss the start with work and school, but eh. The reason being Kris Allen. This week was only my second time watching this season, but never the less I happened to see this talented beautiful fit man walk on screen and blow me away with his performance of ‘Man in the Mirror’. I really love hie voice and style and that song was an amazing choice. Here is the clip from the show with Kris performing…

Another contestant that I’m rooting for is Allison Iraheta, last night she performed ‘Alone’ by Heart. Here is the perfomance…

pretty good. I think she looks a little like Kelly Clarkson, or is it just me? Well thankfully both made it in to the top 12 this week and we should be seeing more of them soon. Oh yea I’m pretty much crushing on Kris.
